Flirting with Fusion
It is one thing when your jewellery picks are stylish, and quite another when they’re stylish, with a confluence of many genres! Urmi Daga showed us how we can mix, match and make magic with Indian and Western accents in Fusion Focus, and now we’re going to show you how you can make it work for you too!
East with West
Just like Urmi said, we love the fusion of Indian and Western motifs too. Be it the neat lines and the hoops, or the intricate detail of the locket – paired together, they’re a refreshing sight! Follow up with the dangling earrings that have Indian accents, and a sleek pendant, and every outfit becomes that much more interesting. Each combination brings to the look a balance of contemporary fashion and a sense of newness, and with both in the mix – you also get to add variety to the outfits that go with them!
Shape shuffle
Move over matching, it’s time for complementary to take over. The go-to way of fusing two or more styles together, is to mix the shapes. Take the curves and add the geometry, take the circles and intercept them with the lines – and don it all with confidence!
Type twist
Of course, pearls look great with pearls, stones with stones and metal on its own too – but add a mix of one with the other, and it helps highlight the best of each other. For example, gold bangles mingled with one with pearls on it or stone studded earrings with a graceful gold necklace, bring out the grace of the gold and the glamour of the stones and pearls better.
Repurpose jewellery
Urmi’s own selection for #StyleSquad was to repurpose jewellery, and she pulled it off really well. She selected the gold necklace accented with orbs, and made a very neat, very cool headband of it, giving her look a splash of Indianness. Similarly you can repurpose your chain to be your headband, bangle as an arm band, or let the creativity flow with your own ideas!
Take Urmi Daga’s word for it - give the Fusion look a try. You’ll be surprised by how much you can experiment on your own, apart from the formulae we’ve created for you! Don’t forget to share your look with us on Instagram, using #StyleSquad!
